Why: If they do it right, Ave 29 could turn into South Bombay’s host with the most. Similar to Bandra’s Art Loft, this new 2,000 square feet gallery will be the venue for regular events and workshops, including food tastings, stand-up acts, pop-up stores, exhibitions and more. You can even rent out this space, with wooden floors and white beams, for your own brunch. Opening week features free shows by comedian Tanmay Bhatt, cupcake baking session and a Q&A with filmmaker Manish Jha (see full schedule here).

Why: We’re calling them coronary cakes over at the bpb office, these savoury gateaux made with minced pork, cheddar cheese and topped with crispy bacon slices. Whipped up by music photographer Roycin D’Souza - he got his first order after sharing the dish's picture on Twitter - these herb-y cakes are yum, non-fatty and surprisingly light. He recommends cutting slivers and having it with sliced bread. The next best thing?

When: You need a swine and cheese pairing.

pINCHOS

What: Poco Loco, shop no. 5, Lourdes Heaven, Pali Naka, next to Toto's Garage Pub, Bandra (W), approximately Rs 2,200 for a meal for two, with one drink each.

Why: Steal a kiss in-between tapas platters and hold hands while reaching for heart-coloured wine cocktails at Bandra’s new Spanish restaurant, which works well as a date place. bpb recommends the patatas alioli, lamb skewer and salmon steak, washed down by their special white wine sangria where fruit is blended in, and not bobbing on the surface. Why: The guys behind the Taj Mahal Official Tour app have designed their first one for Bombay - Footsteps of the Raj – Mumbai Heritage Tour. It features forty short narratives about historic sites like Horniman Circle, Asiatic Library, Kala Ghoda and the Gateway of India, related by two fictional characters: a city native and an Englishman from the British Raj. Walk around, and play and pause at will. The app also comes with marked maps and photographs.
