What: Made-to-order tutu skirts from Pixie Couture, call Andrea on 9967264694 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , start at Rs 750.

Why: Ballet park your tushy into these incredibly cute (and short) tutu skirts, sure to keep the boys on their toes. These spectacles of fine tulle net are glammed up with animal print and leather waist bands and come in different colours. Tutu timer!

When: You want to be a frill-seeker.

What: Go fish with Konkan Fishing at Devbagh near Tarkali, visit www.konkanfishing.com or call Siddharth Kelkar on 9821052598, Rs 2,500 for a three hour session, equipment included.

Why: Because there are many fish in the sea, and they’re all waiting for your rod. Make the 400 km trip, and these guys will supply everything else you need – boat, equipment, guide, instructors – to reel in fresh barramundi, groupers, red snappers and more from crystal clear waters. They can also hook you up with transport, hotels, meals, scuba lessons and a campfire to cook your catch.

When: You’re looking for a love-bait relationship.

What: Last-minute cupcakes by Cocoa Panda, call Rushali Mehta at 9920330009 or visit the Facebook page here, 32 Gulistan, Carmichael Road, opposite the Japanese Consulate, Rs 250 for a dozen minis.

Why: Yawn-inducing cupcakes (so 2009!) get a wakeup call with these 2.0 versions that come in updated flavours like caramel, mocha and Nutella. Best of all, these need to be ordered only five hours in advance – so if you’ve forgotten your best friend’s birthday again, you know who to call.

When: You want to join the new batch.

What: Bespoke Halloween costumes by Halloweiner, call Marv D on 9833192815 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , five days to a week’s notice, start at Rs 2,000.

Why: Ghouls rush in to this stylist and ex-fashion columnist’s studio, where he’ll make you an elaborate Halloween costume from scratch using detachable pieces to ensure that parts of the garb can be worn on non-scary nights as well. He suggests you ditch the witch this year and go as a Clockwork Orange hero, ghost from The Ring or even Jersey Shore cast member.

When: You want to make your second skin crawl.

What: Fever Radio Ramayan, tune in to Fever 104 FM to listen.

Why: Because an army of super talented theatre personalities (Anupam Kher, Ratna Pathak, Jayati Bhatia) have come together to resurrect the lost age of Ram, so the least you can do is listen in. Sit patiently through the intro bhajan, and you’ll be rewarded with a gravelly-voiced narration by Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah’s deliciously sinister Raavan. Epic!

When: Monday through Friday at 7 am, with repeats at 2 pm and 9 pm.
