bURIED TREASURES

What: Wine Warehouse, 22 & 23, Keytuo industrial estate, Kondivita Road, Andheri (E), call 42639200, Rs 500 onwards.

Why: bpb Scoop! Locked, stocked and barrelled, this former warehouse is now Bacchus’s favourite destination. Run by The Wine Society of India, here you’ll find rare vintages and private labels - Spanish Rioja, Italian Barolo – not available at your corner booze shop. Customers also get access to cool discounts, blind tastings and other fun events.

When: You want to get Bord(eaux) silly. Opens April 30.

What: Bandit Queen, 556 NM Joshi Marg, Alco Mill Compound, Byculla (W), call 22948752 or visit www.banditqueen.in, Rs 2,000 for a glass bottle.

Why: Amidst a Byculla hutment is hardly where you’d expect to find the über luxe residence of elusive Bandit Queen, creation and muse of Belgian designer Valerie Barkowski and owner Sunita Namjoshi. Yet here she lives, in this new and consciously underground home linen store, where some of the prices can induce sticker shock. Still, the stock of super pretty textiles (linens, scarves, dresses) glass bottles modelled after 1 litre Pepsis and whimsical cuff links are top quality and hard to resist.

When:  You want to add to your list of chor(e)s.

pRESS

What: Snip Salon & Spa, ground floor, Villa Parker, Turner Road, Bandra (W), visit www.snip.co.in, start at Rs 550.

Why: Goa’s favourite spa comes to Mumbai, bringing with it yummy Asian treats like Balanese, Thai and Shiatsu massages, facials and more. A sneak peek shows signature honey-toned spaces, five dry massage booths, three individual and a couple room; all housed in an old Bandra bungalow.

When: Spa opens next week, salon services begin in two months.

What: Oriental Palate, Hotel Metro Palace, 355 Hill Road, Bandra (W), call 26431234, Rs 700 for a meal for two (without alcohol).

Why: This newly opened Pan Asian eatery is resto-bar Puro’s attempt at a re-birth. We suggest you stick to the basics - yum and reasonably priced Shanghai Rolls, Burnt Chilli Chicken and Szechuan Noodles. But stay away from the gummy sushi with wasabi-from-a-tube, unless youwant to hurl at the Orient.

When: You want to be a momo-sexual.

***

What: Artisan gifting stationery by Etcetera, to order call 9820948454 or visit the Facebook page here, Rs 120 for a set of two gift paper rolls, ribbon and tag. Also available at Contemporary Arts and Crafts (Napeansea Road), Loose Ends (Bandra), and Granth (Juhu).

Why: Tanya Anand and her arty partners can cover up the biggest gifting faux pas with their adorable stationery. bpb loves the pensive owl print and retro stripes. If you have a big enough order, they’ll custom design as well.

When: You want to take the (w)rap.

Event Round-up: DJ Pearl at Valhalla tonight at 10 pm; Mudra Dance Week at NCPA until April 30; three nights of Beatboxing at Blue Frog from April 27 to 29.
