What: Neel, new Indian restaurant at Mahalaxmi Race Course, Mahalaxmi.

Why: Restaurateur Rahul Akerkar took Tote on the Turf’s recent blues quite literally; he’s turned it into a fancy new Nawabi restaurant named Neel.Replacing the European fanfare will be a Lucknowi chef who’ll cook up sabzis made from apple, pine nut soup and other treats from Kashmir and Hyderabad. Why: So it’s not on Silver Beach beach but just five minutes away, this all-day cafe described to us as aPali Village Cafe-meets-Indigo Deli. The menu will be predominantly Italian, with pizza, pasta, sandwiches and even a few grills. Stop by the bread and cheese counter on your way out, and remember to wave!

Why: When the Rainmaker’s Shack at Lonavala started gaining too much attention, owner McMathew shut shop and moved to a secret jungle location across Pawna lake. Here you can cycle, barbeque, swim, fish, trek. Also, knowing a certain “Jim Morrison” (listed as the manager on their Facebook group) is bound to open up a few Doors.
