It’s like cybersex, online shopping – there’s mechanical check-ins and check-outs; key sensory pleasures go missing; it's often pleasing but ultimately, not the real thing.
At the bpb office, we’re all about instant gratification (read: taking that dress home immediately from the store), which is making our desire to document e-stores ebb considerably. But every once in a while, something comes along with a name as intriguing as Stalk Buy Love, and we feel like taking a quick look around. Unbutton her browse?
The Graphic Bloom Dress
Stalk Buy Love, a new e-fashion store for women, will keep you hooked with a compelling user interface, attractive product photographs and most importantly, affordable price tags. But all it takes is a second look to realise that not everything on these e-shelves are worth picking up. The dresses start out with Zara-esque asymmetrical pieces (approx. Rs 1,400) – short in front, long behind – crafted out of fabric that doesn’t look too yummy. Skip the Safari, Cruiser and cotton sheaths to get to the pretty Rosebud with pleat and flowy Rosario dresses. If you like busier prints, look out for The Inca, Graphic Bloom and Yellow Bouquet dresses. Yes, get the whole bunch if you like!
The tops here are mostly casual, some pedestrian and not worth bothering with. In the small heap we kept aside, there’s the hippie-ish Dice Top and wispy Giselle blouse perfect for your peaceful protest against violent protests in the city. There’s also a lingerie-evoking top inspired by a girl named Alessandra, that probably shouldn't be worn to the march. Now we’re not fans of jumpsuits so we’re not even going to go to that category. No night time romp(er) for you!
Sling in the Rain
Our favourite products to stalk at Stalk Buy Love though, are the five faux leather Primary Mix sling bags (Rs 1,600) that multi-task colours with the ease of a well-armed Indian Goddess. There are also solid coloured belts with names like ‘mango mousse’ and couple of random wallets. And despite the appropriate urges you might harbor for bling, we suggest you skip the jewellery section entirely, which is populated by tacky costume baubles that you can find at Hill Road’s kiosks.
All in all, Stalk Buy Love is well-priced - some products are as cheap as an export surplus store –and does keep a few pieces that appeal. And if you aren’t satisfied with their package, you can even return it in seven days, no questions asked.
Getting there: Shop online on http://stalkbuylove.com, call 91-011-40545354, Rs 1,600 for a sling bag, Ra 1,400 for a dress.
