LBD (Last Bow Down)

Run for your lives, little black dresses. Or stay and be blinded by a bright yellow sheath with the brilliance to bleach and the shine to fade anything that comes in its path. Wearing it, is a comet of a couturier, Snower Sania, travelling fast and furiously gunning for you all, threatening to cleanse the city of the LBD race before New Year.

“People seriously need to get over the whole black dress obsession,” says 22 year-old Snower, a model in Mumbai who only recently made her designer debut with a flirty line of clothing under the label Summer Snow. “There’s purple and copper, teal blue and fire orange. Why would anyone go for black?” she continues. 

Armed with no fashion school degree, but an “understanding of cut and colour”, Snower is quite happy with the way things have turned out. You would be too, if you were crafting electric blue minis that boys could fall in love with and wispy forest green sheaths that they could take home to meet mom. Sure, a few ruffled sleeves seem inspired from elsewhere, but on the whole, Summer Snow’s bright bites of candy coloured tops, shorts and dresses are fun, and more importantly, affordable.

Of all her designs, Snower likes the above mentioned yellow anti-LBD most. This comes with puffed sleeves and happy vibes. But if yellow is too much for you, she suggests you dress in purple or copper this party season, and pick scoop backs over low necks. “But please, please no black,” she pleads.  
Snower currently has only 20-odd ready pieces, but can make any garment in your size.
