Glow in the Dark Secret Pillows

Let there be light, the Queen said. And who could disobey? At Bandit Queen’s new pop-up shop (the uber luxe linen store is currently en route to a permanent space at Lalbaug), glow-in-the-dark bed linen brings a ramshackle old Byculla mill alive.. Virginal white pillows come with secret compartments for amorous letters - or a gun - and outer cases stitched with glow-in-the-dark messages like “clandestine” and “safe place”.  Perfect for newly beds!

Getting there: Bandit Queen’s pop up store, 551, NM Joshi Marg, near Planet Godrej, Byculla (W), call 22948752 or visit www.banditqueen.in, on until October 31, Monday to Saturday 11 am to 8 pm, secret pillows for Rs 2200 each.

Atom Bomb Dress

Brighter than a present, feistier than a firecracker, this slinky sequined dress will be the loudest ka-boom in every room. Best of all, the black and silver mini – a super imitation of Cue’s bling dresses that cost a cool Rs 15,000 and up – we found for just Rs 1,000. Can you steal the love this season?

Getting there: Eye Candy, Khar  Sheetal Apartments, below Dhoop, Dr Ambedkar Road, Bandra (W), call 26056254, start at Rs 400.

Big Idea Lamp

Luminaries will love this Big Idea reading lamp shaped like a bulb, designed to reveal pages and encourage ideation.  “Watt an idea, watt a lamp,” say its designers Nikhil Saxena & Varun.  Sounds about light!

Getting there: At Loose Ends, shop no 1, AN House, lane opposite Shoppers' Stop, Bandra (W), call 65224725; Tappu ki Dukaan, 27-A, Kermani Building, mezzanine foor, Sir P.M. Road, opposite Citibank, Fort, call 22043716; or online at Happily Unmarried, Rs 1,100.

Rajnikanth Lighter

Macho is no longer dark and brooding, for it is now on a lighter. We scouted this super fun pearl grey Zippo with doodles of the South super star just for you. Now all you have to do is learn how to flip a cigarette in the air, have it land in your mouth and light up that bad boy, all the while thrashing a band of goons to a pulp. Enna Rascala!

Getting there: Ground floor, Libra Towers, next to Asif Salon, opposite St Peter’s Church, Hill Road, Bandra (W), call 26401675, visit www.theplayclan.com, start at Rs 1,500.

Traffic Stopping Hair Band

Sit across from us wearing this intensely bright yellow hair band, and we’ll freeze like deers caught in headlights.  A big, bold accessory from Little Shilpa, this fun band has a pair of giant yellow plastic lips perched one side. At Rs 6,000 however, it can induce sticker shock. Pout it from the roof top, we say!

Getting there:  Bombay Electric, 1 Reay House, BEST Marg, Colaba, call 22876276 or visit www.bombayelectric.in, Rs 6,000.

Veda, Palladium

Theatrical chandeliers of every kind and colour swing wild at this soon-to-open Indian restaurant at the Palladium, making it a strong contender for the brightest spot in Mumbai. An outpost of a Delhi eatery set up by designer Rohit Bal and restaurateur Alok Aggarwal, Veda is slated to open for business on October 20, but the restaurant is already holding set menu meals for groups of ten or more.

Getting there: Veda, S 8, Palladium, Phoenix Mills compound, Senapati Bapat Marg, Lower Parel, call 24900055,  or visit www.vedarestaurants.com.
