New Paper Clippings

If by the chair, there's a pile of hair, then look up and you'll see more. Boxer shorts and jackets, clips and pails, that unlike the hair balls, are all on sale.

Mad O Wot salon's Bandra branch has started a new in-house store - none of that pop up stuff, it's here to stay - where in addition to founder and hairstylist Sapna Bhavnani's fashion label SoFake, they also stock random merchandise from accessory vendors across the city. Shear luck!

bpb visited the salon last evening to find that majority of the  stock comes from lifestyle label Pop-Att, which does deliciously outlandish net head gear, done-to-death flower bands and pretty vintage-y crochet clips. Our favourite hair accessory though, comes from Sapna: fabric pinwheel clips arranged like a cluster  of butterflies on an unsuspecting red head. You can call her Julianne (see above). And for days when you're running low on hair product - or attention - you can grab the white neta cap that actually lights up. Any more bright ideas? Yes. Read on.

World Apart

In addition to the accessories, there are also those Pop-Att classics like boxers in a jar, cool neon planners, heart planters with seed packets and a few neck pieces strung over this mirror and that armoire. Less exciting are the Vitamin K wallets - leftovers from after the store announced it was shutting down we suspect - made with faux snake skin and patched with stars and stripes.

More fun are the kitchen wooden frames hung on the walls, embellished with French Fries, lobsters, sunny side up and other yummies, encasing within a calorie chart that reminds you just exactly how much that bag of peanuts is going to cost you. Okay, we take back the 'fun' bit.

Coupled with their newly launched manicures and pedicures, this corner makes for fun browsing and will be updated with new stock and designers in the coming month. What's hard though, is to differentiate the products on sale from the salon collectibles that aren't. Rest assured, you will point to an uber cool Japanese doll or Mr Bean bobble head and ask for the price, only to be disappointed. We did that with a space helmet-like hair band, but were told it's from another world. Those plaguing space issues again!
