Plain White T's
In a world dominated by tees pasted with lame messages, a plain coloured one that fits well is truly hard to find. Here to (ad)dress the issue is FreeCultr, a new online apparel store for men and women that aims to specialise in basics - solid hued tees, sweater vests and pants – made with quality fabric.
We got an offline peek at the first collection yesterday, and though our initial reaction was to doze off, we kept ourselves awake long enough to discover that the tees were in fact incredibly soft, fit well and made fine December dates for the busy prints in our closet.
Hey Girl, Hey Boy
While the candy stretch T-shirts and pants for women are fun, there are some dowdy tunics that FreeCultr should definitely re-think. Also, the skinny jeans section needs to be fattened up with more stock. Boys have a lot more to be happy about on FreeCultr - preppy polos, lightweight cardigans crafted from pure wool and tee shirts in yum colours caught our fancy. The casual shoes in hues of peach and foam green, and the checkered shirts with attached hoods, however, are not for everyone.
A few bad eggs aside, we think this new store will deliver on what it aspires to be – simple and well-made. And if that’s what you’re looking for, you’re better off logging on to FreeCultr than sifting through racks at say, a Westside or a Globus. Plus, locally produced fabric and an exclusive online store means there are lesser overheads, and this translates to more than affordable price tags – cotton tees start at a mere Rs 499, and both, coloured pants for women and jeans for men carry the price tag of Rs 1,899.
