Do Shorts at Spring Break

Get Tanked!

Spring Break, Bandra’s latest fashion store isn’t for girls gone wild, but it’s a fecund find for basics that are well put together and super cheap. FCUK-ish tank tops – ribbed grey with silver sequined pocket, deep wine cotton with ripped detailing, black ones that fit like a glove – are well priced at Rs 400. Ignore corny versions with shopping slogans pasted on them, though. Also strange are eek-to-the-touch stretch tops with ruched up sleeves and generic Cotton World-ish tees

Miami Beach!

Breathe-easy white mal shorts with sinuous vines and salmon pink flowers are probably the only hint of a real spring break in this all-wood store, a piece of Miami that we picked up instantly (Rs 350). Also available are less breezy black high waisted shorts for the evening, and a blue pair with monsoon grey hearts. And for those who can pull off the onesie we spotted a cool variation, with a DKNY knock-off – jersey tank at the top and Indian-printed silk divided bottom (Rs 1,000).

Men Can Do More

Spring Break, unlike many Bandra boutiques, has thought about men too. Someone has to, after all. And so what if all the prospects here aren’t exciting? Quit whining and focus on cool military green shirts with roll up sleeves and gaily hued checked button-ups, both variety for Rs 600.

Don’t Take the Top Off Yet

Spring Break isn’t for shoppers looking for an “aha” moment, but you’re likely to find something here that will make you say “why the hell not?” Another put-off is that there’s more than one of every design here, so you’re going to spot those shorts on someone else soon enough. But then, isn’t seeing five of everything part of spring break?

Getting there: Spring Break, shop No. 1, Bhagwan Niwas, 18th Road, opposite FabIndia Khar (W), open on Sundays, Rs 400 for a tank top.
