Wanna Party: Live Streamers
Monday, 11 June 2012 21:44

It felt wrong, almost rebellious, to be walking down aisles lined with confetti, glittery top hats and drinking board games, while parties all around the city are getting shut down. But walk we did at Wanna Party, a new anti-Dhoble store in Andheri that sells all kinds of celebration supplies, from Halloween costumes to psychedelic streamers. Did someone say “rave party”?

Join the Olympics

When you enter Wanna Party, you won’t be blitzkrieg-ed by tacky rubber masks and gaudy knick-knacks. Easy on the eyes and well organised, the store is divided by party ideas and themes (think Party Hunterz, Bandra), like bachelorette, birthday (landmark years like 1, 16, 30, 40 and so on), baby shower, red carpet and Mardi Gras, to name a few.

Just tell the store manager what kind of event you’re putting together, and he’ll direct you to the area that houses everything you need - wall décor, lighting, disposable cutlery, costumes, masks and hats of every imaginable shape and colour. bpb likes awesome road signs with altered messages and wedding gift boxes crafted from handmade mulberry saa paper imported from Thailand (start at Rs2,600), which can be custom-made if ordered in advance.

Seen-before but always fun are the boozy versions of board games (start at Rs 2,500) like Snakes and Ladders and Ludo, where tokens are replaced with shot glasses. There’s even a bunch of mad party eyewear including a pair of lit-up glasses shaped like the Olympic rings . Now you know what to get for your Olympic opening ceremony house party. Race you to it?

What’s the Plan?

Besides retailing soiree supplies, Wanna Party also offers an event organising service. If you have a specific theme in mind and want to throw these guys a challenge, they’ll take it on. With this service comes décor fittings, customised gifting, catering and specialised cakes for all kinds of occasions. Even when you have no reason to celebrate.

So, you're thinking of planning that anti-Dhoble party after all? Finally, a revel with a cause.

Getting there: Wanna Party, shop no 28, building no 9, Lakshmi Plaza, Andheri (W), call 9833924717, visit www.wannaparty.in or view the Facebook page here, Rs 2,500 for boozy board games.

I went to the wanna party website on reading this post and ordered some things for my son's birthday. I received immediate confirmation of my order after I placed it and as per their process, I was to get an order tracking number next. When I did not get it for 2 days, I sent them an email and called them up. They told me that no order was received but they would send me the items from their Mumbai store. I did get it but it was not what I ordered. When I called the Mumbai store, they said that what I ordered was not in stock (even though their website said 100 pieces available) and that actually the website is not really functional. That is simply ridiculous - why have offer online shopping when you arent even geared up for it. I then called up their head office in Delhi, since the Mumbai outlet is just a franchisee. And was totally appalled by the attitude of the Delhi head. He was totally unapologetic about the fact that the website is infact not meant for online shopping and in his own words" half the things shown on the website are not even in stock".Well if that's the case, you, my friend are guilty of misrepresentation. And if your website is not ready to offer online shopping, then how can it accept an order and even give me an order number ?? There was a complete lack of apathy on his part - no sense of customer service or even a mere moral responsibility for throwing a person's plan out of gear. Not just that, he disconnected my call in the middle of the conversation and refused to take the call later ! Such juvenile, uncouth and arrogant attitude can only be expected by a Delhi business man. The Mumbai person to his benefit was more apologetic and agreed to let me keep a small part of the order as compensation. This is the last I am dealing with them, while I now trudge in the rain to buy the last minute party supplies !
