Arteries be warned, a cheese festival is coming to town. On December 3 and 4, ABC Farms will be hosting its fourth annual fest featuring cheese in every flavour from coffee and smoked ham to sun dried tomato and cranberry. This you can pair with chocolate from Figo, bread from German Bakery and wash it all down with wine or Miller beer. Want more? For the occasion, Curve is doing a special menu featuring you guessed it, cheese, in pizza, quiche and salads. Arteries be damned, it’s like we’re meant to brie!
At the cheese festival you’ll also find a flea market – of course we will – with stalls that sells gift wraps, umbrellas and kitchen equipment. Interestingly, the Enchanted Garden will feature some super fun plants like the Pitcher Plant, Christmas trees and Bhut Jalokia - a lethal chilli!
And tuning the many elements together will be a live band. Cheese, cheer and Christmas trees – not a bad way to kick start the holidays.
Getting there: The ABC. Cheese and Wine Festival 2011, on December 3 and 4 at ABC Farms, Koregaon Park, from 11 am to 11 pm, view the Facebook event here.

Pune got a whole lot of love from Lush recently, when the British brand that does handmade cosmetics sent over two fragrant stores (one at Amanora Town Centre two months ago and another at Phoenix Market City just three weeks ago) full of yummy bath and body products. Take a trip to the new 300 square feet shop to splurge on fresh bars of soap, tubs of jelly and prettily packaged bottles that make all kinds of slick promises, offering Sweet Lips, Sex Bombs, Dream Cream and even Lovely Jubblies.
Dewy-eyed (and skinned), we couldn’t help but go all the way, returning with goodies that curled everything from our hair to our toes. Quite the Lush, we know!
Our lust list:
For your hair: Ultimate Shine Bar, for the smoothest, shiniest Lance-locks. Rs. 590 for a bar.
For your face: The Vanishing Cream will bring a rosy glow to your skin. Rs 2490 for 45 grams.

Pulp Fiction In this world of email, Kindles and virtual bills, the creative cats at The Paper Thingie have found a new use for paper: earrings. And they're pretty too: intricately made danglers in primary colours that are stylish and thankfully light. Hear, hear! Think Inside the Box They also do more conventional - but equally stylish - paper products, boxes and gift cards made from thick craft paper and adorned with loops of colour that swirl into pretty pink presents, slanty-eyed Buddhas, a fat Ganesha and our current favorite - a circular Christmas tree. See for yourself with bpb's slideshow. In the Click of Time The Paper Thingie is a perfect find for the holiday season, when the glut of cheesy Hallmark cards and blingy wedding invites reaches it's apex. Plus, they'll design a customised gift box or greeting card for you, even for relatively small orders. Greetings, we say! Getting there: Order by emailing

A Pose By Any Other Name
Dress in all your finery, grab a guy who can work a turban, park your tushy on a velvet upholstered high back chair and smile the same smile for about three to four hours. If you don’t have the time, inclination or velvet throne to pose for an oil painting, send your photograph to Your Portrait and they’ll get an artist to do you on canvas (oil or acrylic).
Recently started by Tripti Kedia, ex broadcast journalist with Bloomberg UTV, this venture hopes to revive a dying technique and add a little art to your room. Kedia works with a bunch of struggling artists in the city to convert photographs of everything from babies and yachts to celebrities and couples into paintings. While the pictures on Your Portrait’s homepage are a little, how do we put this delicately, garish, their technique seems sound. And since the subject will be you, pretty reader, we’re sure it will turn out great.
Getting there: www.yourportrait.in, visit the Facebook page here, prices start at Rs 5,000. Order oils in advance (3-4 weeks) or acrylics (7-10 days) if you're in a rush .
