How can you love something that’s so twisted? You can if it’s sweet and lemon glazed and covered in rainbow sprinkles. Find this and more attractive treats head to Pretzel A’more, Koregaon Park’s new takeaway joint where sweet and savoury pretzels vie for your attention.
Pre(tzel) a Porté
You won’t have to try too hard to find Pretzel A’More; just follow the smell of freshly baked yummies to the tiny Lane 6 shop that just about fits the wide variety of flavours - Cin-ful (cinnamon flavoured), Snowflaked (dark chocolate sprinkled with sesame seeds), Berrilicious (juicy strawberry), Hawaiian (hula on pretzels with pineapple flavour), All Brain (almonds), Be Blue (blueberry), Coffee on the Run (coffee cream)...the list goes on.
What bpb tried: The carelessly crumbly Oreo version was our favourite and tasted super yum after warmed in the microwave and paired with a glass of milk at midnight; the Blueberry was fruity without tasting synthetic-y; and the lemon chocolate was rich and zesty at the same time. The cinnamon was our least favourite, a plain jane pretzel where we could hardly taste the cinnamon. While the orange was too sweet for us, a friend described it as a yum breakfast option that tasted like marmalade on bread.
Savoury Our Souls
After a saccharine overdose, we were relieved to find the savoury pretzels on the menu including Desi (with mint chutney), Jalapeño (with cheese and garlic) and Italia (cheese and olives). Unfortunately, they didn’t fare as well on the taste meter as their sweet sisters. We got the jalapeno which had an overpowering amount of garlic and way too much spice. Not a good option!
What we love about this place is that the treats are super reasonable, with singles costing Rs 50 and a six pack, Rs 250. If only they could come up with a better takeaway packaging alternative to the individual paper bags that stick to the pretzels.
Wait, There's More
The non traditional section of the menu – sausages and burger patties filled in pretzel buns- and bagels made us wonder if the ‘A'more’ in this eatery’s moniker is trying to say pretzels ‘and more’. But judging from the brightly coloured, happy treats in the showcase, we’re going to go ahead and assume they mean love.
