What exactly is Turning Tables?
In a nutshell, Turning Tables is a dinner party that’s catered by a celebrity chef, where none of the guests know each other. It’s designed as a place to meet new people, eat good food, and generally expand avenues in which communities and networks can be built in unconventional ways.
Why should I come to an event?
Three reasons: a celebrity chef cooks specially for you; your meal is significantly less expensive than it would be at the restaurant; and you get to meet some really cool people. Plus, you get to hang with us!
Basically, an extremely novel concept that incorporates elements we inherently associate with comfort - dinner at home, good food, interesting company.
What’s in it for the chefs?
It’s more intimate and more impromptu than cooking at the restaurant, which chefs enjoy. Also, they get great first hand feedback on stuff that they’re often experimenting with, and also have the chance to meet their patrons.
What kind of people will I meet?
We are constantly amazed by the number of adventurous people in this city! We’ve had 24 year old girls wielding whisky bottles, graphic designers, lawyers, hedge fund managers, magazine editors, expats (we’ve had a girl from China working for the IFC, an Australian guy working at an NGO, a French corporate lawyer, a British wine connoisseur), lots of Indians who’ve just moved back from time spent abroad, and many, many foodies and curious restaurateurs.
Basically interesting, interested people.
