a Fruit?
Fruitilicious, a two-week old establishment makes bouquets out of fruit. To peach his own, we suppose.
Strawberries bunched up to look like a bouquet of rose buds; sunflowers cut out of cheery pineapples; and purple grapes performing handstands over pyramids of luscious kiwi – how bananas is that?! Fruitilicious, a two-week old Kemp’s Corner establishment makes bouquets out of fruit, which to us is as unnatural as a flower salad. But to peach his own, we suppose.
Not Even Pulp Fiction
Surprisingly, there is no sign of fruit at Fruitilicious’ garage-sized store. No shiny apples or melons in sight, not even pretend pears crafted out of wax. Just a black and white mural on one wall and a dapper gentleman behind a desk who whips out a pamphlet filled with bouquets – there’s pictures of arrangements with corny names like Bloomingdales and Melonious Fall, Citrus Twist and Fruit Mania, sitting not-so-pretty in vases, baskets or cute lapis blue pales.
Getting Fresh
“The fruit is bought every day, and we deliver only fresh arrangements,” we were told by the earnest proprietor. After leafing through the entire catalogue, we settled on Very Berry: a plain and simple bunch of strawberries tied together with a bow. Strawberries in October? “We import them, along with other exotic fruit like kiwi, year-round with a shipment coming in every three days,” he explained.
Wow. Who doesn’t give a fruit now?
