The reason we had to go so violent and outright was because none of this was properly and decnelty conveyed to us when we were there. we were mocked at and told that our taste palettes are not refined enough. Now that we are posting things on your Facebook page and other blogs, we are getting a straight decent response from you. we wish this had been done when we were these yesterday, so we didn't need to resort to such harsh measures.

Suzette Team
Hi,

We don't usually reply to comments. Last time this happened, some of our loyal guests spontaneously replied and we thank them! By the way none of them are "ghosts", they can all be met at Suzette very regularly :)

Again, we are sorry if you had a bad experience but nothing justify such hatred and violence. It makes us feel sad to see that people are bringing  racist motives and mentioning religion (see Facebook comments on the same review) in what's supposed to be a restaurant and food review.

As far as "stale" food is concerned, we would like everyone to know that ALL our food is made to order with fresh ingredients. Our juices and SmooZies are made of fruits only and we don't add any sugar or syrups (guests can add sugar according to their taste).
The "brownish" colour of the watermelon mint comes from the mint, which is blended with pure watermelon juice.
All this can be checked at anytime through the window of our open kitchen.

We regret this small incident, and hope that happy guests' comments will speak for themselves!

Its sad to know that a place like Suzette which serves good food sucks in Hospitality.

Had a horrible experience at Suzette yesterday. The drinks that were ordered tasted terribly rotten and sour and when asked for a change the owners came out to argue about the drinks being just fine. One of them was extremely hostile and did not take too well to constructive criticism. Shocked and surprised at their behavior. Really did'nt know this is what hospitality is about. Absolutely disgusted!

Yesterday evening I had the worst experience at Suzette. Everything I tasted was stale and rotten. One of the owners were very defensive about the food and drinks. When we told them about how it did not taste right, the owner just argued on how they love the food and we might not have the taste for such exotic food. It was very shocking because in the world of customer relationship no one behaves like this. Like come on today from a shiv sagar to an indigo all believe in customer relation and making them feel comfortable and not insulting them by saying that it is too exotic to be your kind of food. Suzette is not even so expensive or exotic, there ingredients are just about average. It is like a shack So what is all this attitude for? Never going there.

Angry Customer
I am extremely upset to be writing such a review but it really needs to be done. I use to frequent this place every week sometimes twice a week- I don't like familiarizing myself with owners or the staff and you'll understand why I have said this once you read below.

So, it was four of us girls and we had first called for a watermelon mint and peach & grape smozzies (season for peaches). The drinks came at the same time and the watermelon mint juice was brownish in colour and tasted watery and sour, as if it had gone bad. The peach and grape was extraordinarily sour and tasted of seeds and nothingness. We called the waiter and returned it- which apparently was an insult to the owners because two men walked out looking rather offended. They told us that they tasted the drink and they liked it- (Excuse me, I didn;t realize you were serving yourself and that you were the customers) There was a lot of back and forth basically a French 'pompous' man trying to teach us what smoothies/ juices taste like. Then the other friend of mine and me decided to try the Iced tea, one of the owners came out and said I'm not sure if you will like it but try a little bit in a glass first and decide, which was very nice of him. The second man came out again and told us that we would not like the Iced tea as it was very French and luxurious in the rudest possible tone- (Excuse me- did not know you owned our taste buds)
After all of this, he still came back and was very condescending telling us that we shouldn't be mad and that he is not making us pay for it. Firstly if you want to run a business in India, please do not insult Indians by telling us "its french and luxurious and you won't like it, just because you fail to make a basic smoothie and watermelon juice" and secondly if you want to run a restaurant anywhere in the world-LEARN HOSPITALITY first!! Even thought this was a bad experience after so many good ones- I will not encourage people to go in here, simply because the owners do not know how to treat their customers. And if the owners are reading this, yes you guys are very racists and hopefully sooner then never you guys learn that you are in India, learn to treat US with respect. Antonia and her team need a lesson or two on hospitality!

All the reviews are on the same day and at approximately the same time! Coincidence? I think not!!!

Hahahaha..This is interesting! Most of the comments here are the same as the ones on a competing blog! Cut. Copy. Paste. Makes me wonder...are they ghost written?!

I am from outside Mumbai and visit Suzette each time I happen to visit. Apart from the delicious crepes and most yummy hot chocolate - what is most compelling about Suzette is the warmness of the hosts and the attention to detail which they shower on every aspect of making their customer's experience delightful. It made the experience that much more wonderful! It is difficult to receive that kind of personal attention from owners in most Indian eateries and is a refreshingly positive aspect about Suzette! Apart from the wonderfully tasty crepes, this is certainly Suzette's USP. Suzette is a must visit for me each time I visit Mumbai!

It is in this light that I find one of the comments most surprising and difficult to believe about the owner supposedly being rude. Perhaps if this person actually had a chance to eat Suzette's food - that alone would have ensured that such hate filled, xenophobic and prejudiced comment would not have been posted.

To other readers - Suzette serves some of the best crepes I have eaten anywhere in the world - a must try if you happen to be in Mumbai!! Five stars!!

Suzette is one of the best things to have happened to Mumbai! Delicious menu, superb service - personalised and homely - I find it impossible to believe that someone would dislike Suzette or its marvellous team!
With the dedicated and sincere efforts of Antonia, Jeremie and Pierre they have not only opened the best creperie in town, but have endeared themselves to Mumbai and the locals (they all speak immaculate Hindi!- @ Excuse her She's French's comment), making one look forward to experiencing Suzette again and again and again....

I don't know Antonia and Peirre personally but I have been to Suzette many times and they are very welcoming. It's one of the few establishments in Bombay where at least one of the owners seems to be present at all times. Which is why all this seems surprising to me.

I cannot oversell the quality of the food and service at Suzette, whether it is at Nariman Point or in Bandra. It is spectacular. This is one of the only restaurants I know in this city that hit quality on both every single time. People, please try their new smoozie - belgian chocolate, banana and milk. And yes, the nutella crepe too! Jeremie, Antonia and Pierre - thank you for your kindness, creativity hospitality and overall awesomeness!

I was born and raised in Mumbai, and have been from everything to Wasabi to street-side stalls. I love Suzette – it’s a great place and the service has been unquivocally terrific. What I find unequivocally unsavory, however, is how ENTITLED everyone in Mumbai feels to perfect service – service that’s provided by people (read: human beings. Humans are inherently flawed) who work very hard to do things right. And entitled to act in ways that make it incredibly difficult for people to do their jobs. So what if something goes off one day, nobody’s perfect, no establishment is perfect and I think the vitriol expressed in the post above is totally out of line and, frankly, childish.

Obviously I don’t blame anyone for pointing out dirt on the floor, but if the restaurant staff moved immediately to correct the situation, I’m not sure why there’s a problem in doing so. What’s the alternative – leave the dirt there and not do anything? Would that have been better? As for the mosquitoes – excuse me, but they’r EVERYWHERE in outdoor establishments. Have you been to Olive lately?

I am surprised that any of the Suzette partners would kick anyone out – and I’ve seen them deal with some of the most difficult, entitled people in this city and go out of their way to accomodate them without so much as a whimper. Frankly, it sounds to me like someone was being a difficult customer and Antonia was at the end of her tether – remember that the Bandra branch had just been attacked for no reason by the BMC. Sure, her reaction may have been out of line (I don’t know the full story – just what’s posted here). But you know what? Everyone has bad days, including the person who was kicked out.

And, for those of you insulted by a ‘gora’ commenting on how dirty Bombay is – deal with it and open your eyes. This city is filthy, about as filthy as the racism inherent in your comment.

With that said, Suzette’s a great place to be – for lunch, dinner and everything in between. I’m getting fatter because of it, but you know what? I’m not complaining. And I’m pretty sure 99% of their customers aren’t either.

Its wonderful to see suzette opening up in Bandra- i visit the nariman point outlet often and im delighted to begin my day sipping the heavenly marco polo tea while eating a wholesome breakfast of crepes and eggs and having a great conversation with the owners. Which is why i am shocked to see Riddhi ranting about the place. The reason that the place is swept so often may have to do with the fact that they have an outdoor seating and being right in the middle of a very busy street, it says a lot that keeping it clean and dust free is so important for the staff. As far as the mosquitoes go,i totally sympathise with Riddhi. I hate been bitten all the time- guess i have sweeter blood than most but i dont understand what the cafe can do about it.. maybe Riddhi needs to keep an insect repellent in her purse cause in mumbai we have them , along with stray dogs, rats and cockroaches. SO Riddhi- i dont know which part of the planet you come from, but in this city we have to deal with this. Antonia, Pierre and Jeremie- thank you for the wonderful food and the wonderful company- its a joy to see you and suzette in bandra

Amin

I have been customers of Suzette since the place opened in Nariman Point and fell in love with this wonderfully soulful place which served French cuisine. Recently I visited the place in Bandra also and were impressed that the best standards of hospitality were being maintained.

I have known the owners- Antonia and Jeremie for sometime now and have interacted with them closely. Let me tell you something about them. Before they started this hotel, they studied social sciences in one of the premier university in India and have efforlessly worked in the sectors that are helping to bridge the gap between the progressed India and the Bharat that needs to be part of so called development. They have travelled all over India and have truly fallen in love with this wonderful country of ours. Through their travels and exposure they understand us Indians very well. The result for this can be seen as the food at Suzette is carefully nurtured to pamper the Indian palate. It was through them that I realised that the best ambassadors for our country and culture are people like them who take effort to work and make this country a home away from home.

Your comment wherein you have so annimatedly used intemperate language is highly insuinating as it colors the person with a racist and a jingoist flavor where none exists.

Unbelievable! And the food there is so good! Shame you didn't get to eat any.
Considering the huge expat crowd that Suzette attracts, your experience might be a one off. I thought its only in Goa that Indians are treated badly! Guess that is not true anymore!

Let me tell you a story,
I went to Suzette (Bandra) this morning. The place was filthy as can be not only outside but also inside. But naturally, I brought it to the immediate attention of one of the waiters. To my amazement, another picked up a broom and started to sweep the floor right in my presence whilst folks seated at the table next to mine were digging into their delectable crepe (I am told they / Suzette know their food. Do read on to learn, sadly, why I was unable to actually eat it).

As if the ‘broom concert’ was not enough I was then, most unwillingly, made a guinea pig to the theatrical performance of the owner, Antonia, when I brought the ‘mess’ in her restaurant to her notice. Antonia had cleary woken up on the wrong side of the bed this morning (or perhaps over dosed on some ‘crap’ oooppps ‘crepe’). The minute she heard me out on the mosquitoes doing a monkey dance on my head (there were 3 in sight even when I was speaking with Antonia), she exclaimed ‘So what, the full city is dirty. What can I do!’ (in her very strange accent with zero voice modulation..I can still hear her shriek as I type). Well madame or mademoiselle (I dont know what that status is) if my city is dirty then why do you live here and worse of all why do you open a restaurant here?! So much for bringing a simple fact to her notice. Wonder what would happen if someone told her that the food was not good (allow me to reiterate that I did not try any!). I got a earful, would they get a mouthful?

She was on a roll and didnt stop there, she went on to say ‘If you dont like this, then you should not eat here’. I had enough and simply said ‘You are right, I should not eat here’. Post which I excused myself …but I am very certain that I am most certainly unwilling to excuse Antonia….and so what if she’s French

PS: I am aware of the rouble around the restaurant but then nothing (and absolutely nothing!) can make up for lack of etiquette! There is a way to speak, especially in the hospitality industry. If Antonia does not know that way, then she should make her way back to her city (wherever on Earth she is from!)
