When Mumbai’s iconic Sundance Cafe shut down, it was replaced by French restaurant Chez Vous. Then came South American eatery Che, and now, wait for it...Sundance Cafe is all set to return.
Thanks to restaurateur Ketan Kadam and the Two One Two Bar and Grill team, you will be snacking on that pepper steak sandwich your parents used to love by end of August 2012.
Ketan has officially acquired the rights for the Sundance Cafe brand, a move that he believes will make Bombay happy. “Not only has Sundance Cafe been a city landmark, it has also been about comfort food – whether it was their steak burger or the great sandwiches. We will be adding a Two One Two touch to the old menu,” he says. This means quality meats and cuts, plus sophisticated sauces used in old Sundance dishes like diced cube steak with chips, grilled chicken with barbeque sauce and fish with tartar sauce. While they’re still wondering whether sizzlers should be bought back, the Chinese cuisine has definitely been crossed off the list. The bar menu will focus on beer and wine, and Ketan is also excited about the all-day breakfast.
The interiors will be dominated by wood to give the new Sundance Cafe a “warm feel”. The new Indian Memory Project?
Getting there: Sundance Cafe, ground floor, Eros Building, 42, Maharishi Karve Road, Churchgate, approximately Rs 550 per cover, slated to open end of August 2012.
