For Munich
Oktoberfest, world's biggest beer festival comes to Mumbai. All the drunks say, danke!
Start Mugging
Where is the Erdinger Weissbrau brewery located? Can you name five different types of German sausages? Have you heard anything by Die Oberbayern? No? Well, you better brush up on German trivia before Oktoberfest (read: lots of beer) hits Mumbai on October 16. Diligent mugging will be required.
Billed the “Largest People’s Fair in the World”, Oktoberfest is basically a huge beer party that takes place over two weeks in Munich every year, and has finally graced our shores. Organised by the Indo German Chamber of Commerce, it will take place at the Mahalaxmi race course (super venue!), starting Saturday, October 16, spilling into the Sunday after. Besides ales, sausages and spit-fire chicken from Germany, also travelling all the way from Munich is Die Oberbayern, a band that plays annually at the original festival.
While walk-ins are allowed, we suggest you book a table in advance, wear your roomy pants, and grab a bunch of friends. Most of the benches are booked, but bpb got whiff of a brand new batch of round tables for five (Rs 4,000 with a Rs 2,000 beer voucher) that will be put out in the lawn area. Call Shrutika (66652146) from the Chamber early this morning to get yours. Is that a danke we hear, or are our ears already buzzing at the thought of all that beer?
