A Smokin’ 555

Rs 555 – that’s what we blew up on our latest delivery of treats from Loafing Around (www.loafingaround.in) a home catering service in Goregaon (W) that sent us an order so large that it took up every inch of desk space, turning the bpb office into a full-fledged bakery. Big spenders!
What we got: chicken puffs and mushroom tartlets, (slightly squished) white chocolate cake and lemon tarts, a hunk of foccaccia doused in olive oil, 500 gms of fat, chewy chocolate chip cookies.

A good deal, even though you have to doctor the food a bit before it tastes just right. But do not fret! Just follow the instructions below, and you’ll have the perfect recipe for inexpensive, efficient (they processed our order in under a day and delivered it all the way to Cuffe Parade) and delish baked goods.

Instructions:

Chicken puff: Microwave for 30 seconds before digging in. The filling is creamy, tender and subtly flavoured, so those looking for a bigger kick should add a dash of Tabasco sauce.

Mushroom tartlet: 10 seconds in the microwave never hurt anybody, so go ahead and give her a whir. Also remember to liven up the rather bland filling with salt, pepper and a sprinkling of herbs.

Bits of Heaven: Unfortunately, this white chocolate, butterscotch and shortbread concoction had melted into a puddle on the long haul over (the reason we didn’t get charged for it). Persnickety eaters can try sticking it in the freezer for a couple of hours, but we just suggest closing your eyes and digging into the gooey mess right away.

Lemon tart: All you have to do to enjoy this zesty, deliciously sour treat is pucker up!

Focaccia bread: First, put aside all your memories of pillow-y bread squares bought at Moshe’s and Indigo Deli, because this version forces you to take the rocky road. Break into its brittle, oily crust, though, and you’ll find a dense loaf slick with good, fruity olive oil and sprigs of herb. Good enough to eat on its own and our favorite item on the menu.

Chocolate chip cookies: Heat in the microwave or dunk into a glass of warm milk to best enhance the flavor of these cakey, rich cookies. Crumb here, baby!

Enjoy your meal!

Getting there: For menu and to order visit www.loafingaround.com or call 9920267870/9819976661, Rs 15 for a mushroom tart.

I would appreciate a great deal, if you could use your website to create a place for people to get together having like minded hobbies and activities. So often I want to do a hobby and none of my friends are interested, and i am sure there must be so many people like me who are looking for just plain clean fun. A website like yours could fix my kind of problem.
