There is little pleasure in a cold, skinny waffle, bleached and rubbery, made even more difficult to cut into because it is served on a flimsy foam plate with plastic spoons. And consequently, there is little pleasure in World Of Waffles, a new eatery that recently moved in next to Open Affair at Carter Road, Bandra.

We're Waffle-y Sorry

The menu here is straightforward—there are classic and tricked out waffles, some served with fruit and ice cream. "Classic" combinations include waffles with maple syrup, honey, cinnamon sugar and chocolate sauce; "Waffle Delights" are piled high with peanut butter, banana, kiwi and Nutella. Even though the menu reads solid, the actual dishes, especially the ones we order, were not even close. 

Since they don't have takeaway cartons yet, we try and navigate through our uncomfortable meal on a tacky red and white table, staying safe and sticking with waffles topped with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. The waffle, advertised as made fresh, is a thin, cold slice of batter, unredeemable even by a mound of ice cream. One poke with the awkward cutlery and it almost slides off the plate - we have half a mind to let it.

Hoping that the more pricier options might be better, we also get an Apple Bliss, waffles topped with sliced apples, whipped cream and sugar. Alas, the same skinny waffle arrives, this time smothered under what looks like expired shaving cream and sour, stingy cubes of fruit. 

In other words, waffles at World Of Waffles are anything but otherworldly.
