A new flock of birds have taken over Wtf!, but not too many feathers have been ruffled. We visited to find that while Khar’s favourite pub has now been rechristened Hungry Birds, most of the interior and a lot of the menu remains the same. The only new additions are a predictable wall of a pop stars and a DJ with a special affinity for Aerosmith. I don’t want to miss a thing? You won’t really. It’s still all Wtf!
Flock This Way
We suppose that not enough people know about this pub yet, because the Monday night we visited just wasn’t as merry as it used to be at Wtf! Croaks, remember karaoke night? On the bright side, fewer people meant faster service, we thought.
And right we were, as our order consisting of new menu additions, arrived quickly: crunchy, fresh prawn tempura with creamy mayo; tender chicken cheese stuffed kebabs; and a plate of potato wedges, helpless against the oil spill they’d just had to endure in the kitchen. While our favourite mini vada pavs are no longer served here, we loved the new addition Creole Cheese Spinach Wrap with crispy fried vermicelli exterior and a melting spinach leaves and tangy cheese filling. bpb suggests you stay away from the vegetable tempura platter, too oily and pasty and the undercooked Thai chicken chilli.
Khar, looks like you’ve got your neighbourhood pub back and you won’t have to do too much to feel at home. Just don’t look at the signboard, down a few drinks, and you won’t know the difference.
bpb reviews anonymously and pays for its own meals.
