Don’t be scared by the flashing green lights and techno music that assault you when you visit www.barmobile.in.  Simply press mute, put on your sunglasses and spare a minute to read about this new rental service - a bar on wheels that pops out of a suitcase and can be assembled at your home in under fifteen minutes, mixologist and bar assistant included. Holy spirits, Batman!

Thought up by Gaurish Rangnekar (founder of The Den wine bar in Bandra), the Barmobile is like a fancy hand cart with compartments for alcohol, mixers, ice, garnishes. Call them to bar tend at your party and they’ll cart this over – it can fit in as easily with your wild house party friends as it can with your parents’ fancy soiree guests - complete with coasters, stirrers, napkins, glassware and five kgs of ice. We're not big fans of the Clip Art-ish pictures pasted on the mobile bar, though. The bartenders, poached from watering holes around the city, have been trained by Gaurish, who has studied at the New York Bartending School and Cape Wine Academy, Johannesburg.

Theme Sports

On offer for your do are different theme cocktail packages. While the standard option includes drinks of your choice, the Caribbean Cruise will have your guests sipping on rum and tequila-based concoctions. If you like your bar dry, opt for the Shaken and Stirred theme featuring martinis, while the strong-livered can call in for Bomberman, featuring a potent line up of shots including Jagerbomb and Mind Eraser. Rowdy alert!

A five hour session with the mixologist and cart plus above mentioned extras, will cost you Rs 5,500 for five hours including taxes and transport, but minus the booze. There are other rent-a-mixologist services that are cheaper - Barwings does a no-frills package for Rs 2,500 - but there's no bar on wheels.

We'd use this service just to have a shot and say, "to the Barmobile!" Pair with crazy friend who'll wear a cape to the party.
