Sweaty himbos, summer heat, same old salsa: take a break (dance) from your usual routine and let Megha Desai and Parinda Singh, two Bharatnatyam dancers with over 12 years of training, whip you into shape with their unique “Indian Contemporary” moves that include “lines”, extensions and mudras. Swing by!
Who’s Line Is It Anyway?
Megha quit her day job and Parinda still moonlights as a media professional and together they started The Tribe of Taal, through which they choreograph and teach students of all skill levels. Last month, the dance company’s first official workshop attracted an eclectic mix of people, including event managers, a 50 year old physician, a dentist and more. Dressed in black from head to toe, these dance enthusiasts’ learned about jazz hands, Rajasthani folk dance, Kathak, yoga asanas and sword fighting.
