bpb Review: Suara Spa

Press Council

It must be the traffic of stilettos and tight-laced Oxfords at night spot Trilogy that prompted the launch of Suara in the same hotel, a new spa that drives last night’s pain out of this morning’s feet (and body). Shall we dance…again?.

This week-old spa sits snugly on level one of Hotel Sea Princess where the elevator opens out into an instantly calming white space with green accents. We were welcomed with a cold towel and a warm smile, but as soon as the rigid punctuality rules were read, the towel turned warm and the smile, cold. So they recommend you reach twenty minutes prior to your appointment to fully enjoy your experience and a no-show without prior notice means a 100% fee forfeit. We’re not sure how they plan on tracking those who don’t show up, but we didn’t ask.

Zen We Proceed

We downed the welcome Cranberry cooler, filled a form inquiring about medical conditions and perused the menu, picking the foot reflexology treatment, much required after a hard day of scouting.

The reflexology station (there’s a separate massage centre with four private booths) houses a silver space-age chair, faux grass walls and Vinod, whose deft hands help you forget the random elements that make up this section. Displaying the perfect combination of gentle and effective, he used the usual hot towel-aroma oil-cream routine. He took his time and got the pressure points right, inducing an almost-comatose relaxation. And at Rs 850 + taxes, this foot ritual is cheaper than most other city spas where a similar treatment starts at Rs 1,200 + taxes.

If that wasn’t sweet enough, the forty minute knead ended with a plate of diced pineapple.

Step Treatments

If time is not of the essence, the sixty-minute Suara Signature Massage that combines different treatments sounds supremely relaxing. Balinese and Swedish massages, body scrubs, infused baths, facials and body cocoons are also on the massage menu.

Getting there: Suara Spa, Level 1, Hotel Sea Princess, Juhu Tara Road, Juhu, call 26469555 or view the Facebook group here, Rs 850 + taxes for a 45-minute foot reflexology massage, Rs 1,600 + taxes for a 60-minute Swedish mssage.

I went there about a week back and got a foot reflexology and head massage. The foot treatment was awesome but the head massage was nothing close to soothing. I doubt the therapist knew how to give a head massage. I don't think im going back there.

Me and my husband tried the SUARA Signature as suggested...we also enjoyed the rose and milk bath, it was truly luxurious and a romantic anniversary well spent.
