Baby's Steps: Studio One Eighty Nine

I Love You Honey Bunny

Close your eyes and think of scenes from a movie you most want to re-enact. Okay, your lips say Pulp Fiction but your dreamy eyes say Dirty Dancing. If you’re ready to face the truth, sign up for a sexy dance class at Studio One Eighty Nine, South Mumbai’s new dance and fitness hub. Day dreamers still in denial, take one step to the left, get a fringe and stab self with syringe.

bpb visited Studio One Eighty Nine at Tardeo on launch day to find that its hot pink walls and bright bursts of energy are much better selling points than the PR-driven ‘Actor Rahul Bose’s Sister Opens Dance Studio’ campaign. Here, said sister - Anuradha Ansari - has rented out the 700 square feet wood-panelled, mirrored studio to a range of dance instructors who will teach salsa (we spotted Kaytee Namgyal from Salsa India at the launch), Zumba, jive and B-boying. The fitness modules here include Kung Fu, Karate and kick boxing.

The Time of Your Life?

The classes at Studio One Eighty Nine don’t offer radical routines, but the hub is a welcome addition to the fitness scene in South Mumbai. Don’t be shy, go on and sign up. Remember, nobody puts Baby in a corner.

Getting there: 15/16 Everest building, opposite Tardeo Bus Depot, Tardeo, call 23526734 / 9870082714, classes start on February 8, Rs 2,300 for basic salsa - 8 classes a month, twice a week.
