New Music Festival Launches This Weekend
Thursday, 27 March 2014 10:39

If the  trippy Bunuelesque posters are anything to go by, we’re already pretty intrigued about Eden, the newest music festival to hit Mumbai this weekend.

Put together by Bhavishyavani Future Soundz (BFS) and  Moustache Co, Eden that will involve art and live  performances, is an attempt to transform the city into a ‘countercultural playground’, reflective of its vibrant people.

Don’t roll your eyes just yet, the festival has a pretty mad , diverse lineup with Minilogue, Loopkin and Sandunes,  hiphop artist DJ Uri featuring Suman Sridhar and saxophonist Pavan, and India’s reggae/ragga duo, Delhi Sultanate and Begum.

Pencil This In

Over the weekend, the organisers are looking at creating three distinct experiences across the city at venues like Blue Frog and the Palladium Terraces, ending with a mega party titled The Garden of EDEN.

Nirbhaya Comes To India For The 1st Time
Monday, 10 March 2014 11:12

Coming from the capital city of Scotland this month is  ‘Nirbhaya, the play’, a theatre production inspired from a true incident of sexual violence. Directed by Yael Farber, this political piece interlaces the victim’s story with the performing artists’ own personal testimonies and what follows in its wake.

3 Cities,  7 Artists, 1 Story

Born out of a Facebook interaction and funded with the aid of the Internet, ‘Nirbhaya, the play’ will be premiering in India for the first time, travelling to three cities – Mumbai (March 18 to 20), Delhi and Bangalore through this month. The show will feature performances by seven actors, some of whom are victims of crime themselves. It opened to rave reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and we think you should definitely add this to your March to-do list.
