Score pieces of 4 finalist FIFA nations at secret deli, tiny store, Goa beach & between the folds.

bpb scores pieces of the four finalist FIFA nations in Mumbai that are worthy of any football fantasy league. Uruguay we bought from a secret meat packing man and Spain from a non-descript fashion store. At half time, we found Germany in Goa, and Netherlands between the folds.
Spain: Bandra Striker
Torres may be the fiercest thing to come out of Spain, but fashion brand Desigual comes a close second. With insane prints and crazy bursts of colour, one striker from this collection is enough to carry your closet into the champions league. Not officially available in India yet, we found Desigual dresses, tops and jackets at Eye Candy, a closet-sized export surplus store in Bandra. This is the part where you cheer.
In our net: A techni coloured full sleeved dress with embroidered flowers and disco chicks (see picture above).
Getting there: Eye Candy, Khar Sheetal Apartments, below Dhoop, Dr Ambedkar Road, Bandra (W), call 26056254, start at Rs 400.
Uruguay: High Steaks
One of bpb’s best kept secrets, Tabrez’s dial-a-deli - they supply to most of the city’s delicatessens - is one of the few places in Mumbai to get a real taste of Uruguay: a 2.5 kilo strip loin of the country’s prime beef. Place your order, wait patiently (stocks only come in on ship), and Mumbai’s meat packing man will eventually send you your chunk of flesh. Not a Uruguay supporter? Try his queen olives from Spain and Jensen’s goose/salmon/turkey liver pate from Germany. Is there a FIFA fate-deciding octopus somewhere on that meat platter?
Getting there: Call Tabrez on 9870044199, Rs 2,000 for a 2.5 kilo loaf of beef, Rs 150 for 400gms of queen olives and Rs 500 for 80 gms of pate.
Germany: Miriam Pacer
If you’re shopping for indigenous talent, choose from German fashion coach Miriam Strehlau’s line up of sari bomber jackets, cool-ugly skull bags and bright jumpsuits, which she makes in a hidden Goa workshop at Anjuna Beach. Her star player: a corset dress adorned with whale bones, shredded silk and mismatched buttons. Hailing from Black Forest, Germany, Miriam has been treating India to her acid-trip-meets-whimsy pieces for the last five years, supplying to Mumbai stores like Bungalow 8 and Bombay Electric. But we suggest you dodge the middle man and contact her directly. Read our full review here.
Getting there: Miriam Strehlau, Govekar Vaddo 75, behind Shore Bar, Anjuna. Call 91-98 60275202 or visit http://www.miriam-strehlau.com for designs and to order; also stocked at Bombay Electric and Bungalow 8, Colaba.
Netherlands: Pa(y)per View
What would an electronic engineer be doing in a football world cup story? Folding, of course. If you’re in love with Netherlands, Avani Uchat will help you say it with flowers - tulips to be precise. This moonlighting origami expert – she works with mum and sister - turns brightly hued sheets of paper into super pretty, intricate tulips, which you can buy by the bunch or learn how to make yourself.
Getting there: Origami tulips by Avni Uchat, call 9321131122 / 9930334774, order at least 5 days in advance, start at Rs 30 per piece.
