Walk In Wardrobe
Hamara Footpath, a community group dedicated to bettering the lives of underprivileged children in Churchgate, is doing its second annual garage sale at a Bandra cafe this weekend. Pedestrian? Far from it! In addition to “barely worn” clothes, the sale this year will also feature unused pieces from designer’s old collections, available at half price. Keep your eye out for a jewel blue Masaba saree, green mini dress by Swapnil Shinde, black waistcoat by Remanika.
Donor List
The list of donors contributing clothes and accessories is almost 50, with local celebrities like filmmaker Kiran Rao and actress Shahana Goswami also adding to the kitty. But even the worn clothes, co-organiser Shubhangi Swarup assures us, are in great condition and offer labels like Mango, Rajesh Pratap Singh and Ritu Kumar at awesome prices. “In fact, there are some garments that still have the tags on,” she says. Pieces for men - Tommy Hilfiger and Armani Exchange shirts, Abercrombie and Fitch tees, Gap shorts – are few and far between. Hundred percent proceeds from the sale go to the kids.
Beat Generation
And those who couldn’t donate clothes, pitch in their voice: musicians Nikhil D’souza (sigh!), Ankur Tiwari and Agnee volunteer to perform. Also, visually impaired masseurs from Metta Spa will provide foot massages at the venue.
Hamara Footpath, you sweet hawker, you!
Getting there: On April 29 and 30 from 11 am to 8 pm at Candies, Mac Ronells, 5AA Pali Hill, next to Learners Academy School, Bandra (W), view the Facebook event here, free entry.
