Parul and Radhika Gupta have been driving a black cab around Mumbai for a little over a month now. On the way, they’ve picked up a band of creative product designers – 25 to be precise- who will all pop out of the taxi at a Bandra rooftop this weekend. Here, they’ll set up their wares to sell everything from painted shoes and linen shirts to wooden diaries and pretty baubles.

This is Black Taxi, a lifestyle label curator that plans to organise events and bazaars focussed around up and coming designers. At the helm – ex management consultant and garment manufacturer Parul, and Radhika, who recently graduated in merchandising from London College of Fashion. The duo came up with this idea in order to take customers beyond the “kurti-and-clutch exhibition and sky-high store mark ups”. And to ensure quality control, they don’t promise one bazaar a month. The frequency will depend on when the next event is nicely fleshed out they say, remaining tight-lipped about the second exhibit location, but hinting that it will be a sangria-soaked one. Cheers!

The list of designers that will show at Black Taxi’s weekend bazaar include some you’ve seen on bpb before – Toteally, Artnlight, Tuesday Afternoon – and complete newbies like Forty Red Bangles (organic products), Vermillion (hand painted linen shirts for men), Chromakey (handmade stationery), Livelywood (hand painted furniture) and more.

Bumper Prize: Walk-ins get discount vouchers from boutiques and dessert cafes. Also, free cupcakes from Velvet Frost at the bazaar between noon to 1 pm and 4 to 5 pm.
