Mini-ature Portraits

Of all the envy-inducing walk-in wardrobes you’ve seen, this one might come close. Starting Saturday, August 18, The Loft art gallery at Lower Parel will turn into Manchester-based textile artist Andrea Zapp’s personal closet, where she’ll hang up art dresses in cotton and silk that start at 200 pounds. Luxe Skywalker!

Part of The Square Foot Project series, the exhibit titled Third Skin uses digitally printed dresses to showcase photographs taken across the world, the result of which is a little disorienting, but mostly beautiful.  You’ll find yourself almost running up the sheath that displays a winding staircase, or climbing into the one with the row of balconies. Zapp uses cityscapes, cool prints and other “digital still lives as a base" for these handmade dresses.

Browse art that fits well, shows off your legs and can be taken to a party. We've been saying it all along: dresses do make for a good investment!

Getting there: Third Skin at The Loft, Mathuradas Mill compound, Lower Parel, visit http://www.theloft.in, from August 18 to September 30, free entry.
