bAGHDAD

What: Arab food catering by Rita Chachra, pick up from homes in Gurgaon and Saket, call 9811805556, order three days in advance, Rs 1,500 for a leg of raan.

Why: After spending years in the Middle East with her husband’s family (formerly based in Iraq) this Badaam Hussain invaded Delhi bearing many gifts: recipes for wine-marinated raan and whole roast chicken, arayeses and khubus, mutton kebabs and creamy hummus. These she distributes through Zaitoon, her family restaurant in DLF Place Mall, but also via her home catering service, where she whips up personalised dishes and also her coveted raan, not available at the restaurant. Ewe, baby!

When: You want to eat around the Bush.

pEEK

What: Hand-painted shoes at al artz, 5C Jungi House, Shahpurjat, call 9811970891 or visit the website here, Rs 1,000 for ballet flats.

Why: Despite a stock dominated by been-there-done-that kitsch (see LOVE clock and hideous Rajesh Khanna trays) this brand new, overtly pink shop makes our toes curl. One glance at proprietor and artist Alisha’s forest green ballet flats hand-painted with merry butterflies, and you’ll see why. Also check out super soft magenta loafers dotted with roses, a pensive mermaid with locks spilling across two shoes and pink kitten heels. Hey, sole sister!

When:  You need a new pair of Train(ers).

What: Revv Café, M 22, Greater Kailash I, call 40571871 or 8447025250, Rs 2,000 for a meal for two without alcohol.

Why: You know that hole in the wall that was Hell’s Pizza? Taking its place is a split-level biker bar and café, four days old and oh so shiny, thanks to bike mirror installations on the wall and light fixtures assembled using headlamps. While the second floor is dedicated to a huge, yet-to-fire-up bar, downstairs features a short menu of the usual pizza, pasta, grills, which we hear will grow more salad options soon. Full review out next week!

When: You’re looking for a bike to eat.

bACKPACK

What: Lomography India’s Delhi/Mumbai Film Swap Project, visit the Facebook group here or call Akshay Bhoan at 9967134792, Rs 400 per head including camera, film and other equipment.

Why: Because who doesn’t want to tramp around Dilli’s dusty lanes at the height of summer (44 degrees Celsius today!), taking pictures they can’t instantly ogle at, Instagram or post to Facebook? Lomography India makes up for the heat with this two-hour session where they’ll give you a quick course on analog photography and also take your photo back to Mumbai, run the same workshop there, and super impose it with a corresponding image from your Polaroid twin, Kumbh mela style.

When: You want a filmy reunion. Old Delhi session at 7 am and Hauz Khas Village session at 5:30 pm on Saturday, May 26.

What: Underwear bags for men and women by Studio EkSaat, A-17, Garage, Chittaranjan Park, call 9873331733 to order or view the Facebook page here, start at Rs 150.

Why: Beyonce-sized bums in polka dotted panties park themselves on these travel lingerie bags, perfect for underwear that goes places. And for the gentleman packer, bags feature hairy legs in briefs. Lovely.

When: You need to take a (s)trip. Bags slated to launch in early June.
