bIG MAN

What: Anidra, Aman New Delhi, Lodhi Road, call 4363333, Rs 350 for a cocktail on weekdays/ Rs 425 on weekends.

Why: Nocturnal cousin of On The Water is Anidra, a swank, subterranean nightclub that arrived last week bearing all kinds of gifts, including surprisingly reasonable cocktails (we love summer plum and bell pepper martinis), shatteringly good fried snacks (try buttermilk onion rings and maple bacon) and a 24/7 operating license that the manager promises to exercise “whenever the crowd demands it”. Look out for fire torches on the wall, unpolished but friendly service and an in-house live band assembled from all over the world, slated to take center stage next week. Full review out soon!

When: You want to drink with a(plum)b.

What: Rent-a-limo by Presidential Wheels, visit www.presidentialwheels.com or call 9873103926/9990000648, Rs 9,000 for 6 hours/ 70 km.

Why: Cheri Blair used a limo from this service on a recent trip to India, but Presidential Wheels isn’t just meant for the Capital’s politicians. Book a party wagon out for your next bachelorette, which holds seven to eight passengers, features lights that change with the music and comes with a security guard who will walk you to the door of your club and escort you back when you’re done. Talk about safety features! PS: If you’re looking for a cheaper ride, you could rent out an Activa scooter from Uride instead.

When: You’re in the mood for a Wheel and Grace marathon.

pRETTY

What: Gul’s fashion label launch, 5, Kaushalya Marg, Main Aurobindo Market, Hauz Khas, held at a residential basement, call 9654717048, visit the Facebook group here, clothes start at Rs 1,500.

Why: If you have to live through 500 Days of Summer in Delhi, you might as well dress the part: pick from this cool new label’s hippy-meets-girlie styles, including fish-printed playsuits and lacy pencil skirts, on sale this weekend. At her debut exhibition, stylist-turned-designer Gul Garg will also stock 40 other retro pieces, including colour-block t-shirts, short shift dresses and bright leggings. She takes custom orders too!

When: Feel all warm and Zooey inside on Saturday, May 12 from 11 am to 6 pm.

What: Attunga, holiday home for rent, Nasogi Village, Manali, visit http://attunga.weebly.com/ or call 8130188412, approximately Rs 8,000 per night.

What: It took over a year for Himani to build this castle in the air, complete with three bedrooms, two common areas (fireplaces attached), attic, terrace and garden in a pretty spot of Manali. Open to guests starting this month, Attunga comes with new amenities and furniture, extra beds and a caretaker, but no cook. However, food and other essentials (you know what we’re talking about) can be scored at the nearby market, only ten minutes by foot. Definitely worth a tripping!

When: This summer, when you want to charas the dream.

bAD HABITS

What: Wholesale cigarettes, cigars and more from Khazan Chand Ved Prakash, 11, Prithiviraj Market, near Khan Market, call 24615478/9818704966, Rs 200 for a box of Café Crème cigarillos.

Why: We’ll say it at the top of our lungs: smoking is bad for you. But if you insist on sticking with the habit, we’d rather not have you be unhealthy AND broke: enter Khazan Chand, a grimy little storefront in Khan Market that sells cigarettes, cigars and cigarillos by the packet at wholesale prices, up to 25% cheaper than MRP. You can also score several varieties of tobacco, pipes, cigarette holders, smoking filters and rolling paper. Flaming!

When: You want to make monumenthol savings.
