Starting next week, Hauz Khas Village’s favorite terrace bar is stretching out its menu in an entirely new direction, to include sunrise yoga/fitness classes. Grey Goose on the rocks and a neat downward facing dog, please.
High Spirits
Organised by former state level running champion and Sivananda yoga teacher Mehak Puri (she teaches at GK-I and takes private lessons at home as well), these classes will be served with a twist, mixing asanas and breathing exercises with fitness/cardio workouts. Each session will accommodate 15-20 students and be conducted by two to three teachers, including fitness guru Prabhat Bhushan Paliwal.
Expect to see student bodies comprising of the arty crew that works and lives in Hauz Khas Village, including Ruchika Sachdeva of Bodice and the entire Boheme crew. Mehak assures us that the classes are highly personalised and can be tailored for both experienced and new yoga practitioners.
Back to Cool
In order to gauge the fitness levels and goals of her students, Mehak is holding scanning camp this weekend, where students will be tested for flexibility, stamina, skill, etc. Yes, it made us think of highly traumatising PE sessions from high school as well, but Mehak is a lot cooler than your neck-whistle-sporting Fascist gym instructor – plus, no grades! PS: first 15 people to sign up for the scanning session get tested for free, so hurry up and get a move on it.
In addition to designing a fitness regiment, the motley crew at Yellow Butterfly can also consult with you on nutrition and a diet chart. Plus, they plan to launch a breakfast menu to go with the class, consisting of cereal, muesli, healthy sandwiches, fruit shakes and more.
Summer Tails
Sunrise yoga overlooking the gorgeous Deer Park sounds like a lot of fun, but what about the outrageous Dilli heat? “It’s early in the morning, so it won’t be too hot, plus we’ll use the huge fans and shelters Boheme’s already put up,” Mehak assured us. “Don’t be a p***y,” an impatient friend adds. Strike a Roaring Lion Pose instead.
