Along with scouting out the coolest things to shop/eat/do in the Capital, bpb curates Delhi’s hottest guys, and tells you where to find them.
Archit Rakheja, Adventurer & Co-founder of Geck & Co.
Climbing a mountain – that’s where he’s been all your life. Or taking road trips, so many that at one point he owned a caravan, complete with a (very comfortable) bed and a closet. He can ride a camel and make mutton curry best described as orgasmic. Spicy food makes his heart beat faster, but once he ate four liters of vanilla ice cream in under an hour. Tip: If you want to save (and hence own) his life, make a pool date - he’s a terrible swimmer but refuses to admit it.
Here is 26 year old Archit Rakheja, co-owner of one of the coolest adventure/travel companies around. You can not-so-accidently bump into him at his favorite Dilli haunts (see stalker’s guide below), or join one of his trips. You may not get the boy in the end, but he guarantees to show you a good time.
Stalker’s Guide To Archit
He drinks at: 4S (Defence Colony Market), everyone’s favourite dive bar. You’ll most likely find him with a chilled beer.
Eats lunch at: Nagaland Kitchen (Green Park Extension Market) but when it’s too hot for a spicy pork curry, he’s at Sagar (Defence Colony Market), scarfing down dosas. He’s not much of a reader, but if you were to show up with an adventurous travelogue, he’d be impressed enough to let you join him for lunch. (bpb tip: Try The Voyages of Captain Scott by Charles Turley available for free download on Gutenberg.)
Sometimes works out of: Kunzum Travel Café (Hauz Khas Village), as befits a traveler-by-profession.
Exercises at: The Indian Mountaineering Foundation (Benito Juarez Road); look for the boy all the way at the top of the wall, shouting encouragement to others. When it’s cooler, he also runs and cycles across South Delhi.
Loves the tandoori chicken at: Aap Ki Khatir (Nizamuddin West). He’s not much of a butter chicken guy.
Moves around the city in: Pretty much everything depending on the weather - car, cycle or motorcycle. His absolute favourite driving route is Shanti Path, past all the embassies.
Travelling to next: Manali and then he’s going to climb a mountain called Hanuman Tibba.
