Leaf Justice: Big Red Tent's new camp site is bigger, better and greener.

Get Out of Town!

If the October heat and unexpected showers kept you in for most of the month, your frolic forecast is about to change. Staring first week of November, Big Red Tent moves out from its old site, and to new and improved location in Khopoli, one that wins bpb’s camp of approval.

A Chip off the Old Block

A mere two-hour drive from the chaos of Mumbai, run away for the weekend to Big Red Tent’s new ground that stands surrounded by lush foliage, holds on it a peaceful lake and puts up with the seasonal mood swings of a waterfall. Unlike its previous location in Shahapur which was slightly bare, the 20 individual camp sites here are surrounded by trees that protect your privacy. Leaf justice!

BYOB: Bring Your Own Basket

While Big Red Tent’s core camping-with-frills philosophy (they provide tents, mobile loos, blow up pillows and board games) remains unchanged, you're encouraged to bring your own grub to barbeque at the site. Sharing food and stories around the fire with other happy campers is optional.

Those itching to leave the site, hiking trails and night treks are conducted. No need to carry bread crumbs in case you are lost; the organisers vouch for your safety. In the coming months, Big Red Tent plans to introduce more lake activities like boating and kayaking. For now, you can just bring a rod and go fish!

Getting there: Big Red Tent, Green Hills Estate, Village Usroli, off Mumbai Pune Expressway, Khopoli, call 9930582878 or visit www.bigredtent.in and view the Facebook page here, starts at Rs 1,200 per person per night excluding food.
