Write home about L-atitude, a slick new website that combines travel and shopping. bpb picks the best souvenirs!
Latitude and Longing-tude
Here’s a perfect ruffle by Bibhu Mohapatra; Hong Kong’s most dangerous stiletto; trapezoid earrings roughly hewn from a hunk of gold in Bogota: try hard enough, and you can almost taste the tamales on L-atitude, a new website that retails clothes and accessories by fun (and often unknown) global designers.
Working Capitals
L-atitude currently covers five cities including Bogota, New York, Hong Kong, Milan and Mumbai, locations that founder and ex-Wall Street professional Alisa Ng routinely scours for new talent. While stock for a couple of these needs some serious bulking up (Bogota has just one designer, Milan only three), the New York section is nicely robust, featuring big-wigs like Halston Heritage but also smaller, cooler labels – Love Rocks New York, Carmen Ho, Veda.
We suggest you point your compass in this direction and bypass the Mumbai section, which is focused exclusively on accessories (Anupamaa scarves, Honorine jewellery) and for residents, is nothing to write home about.
Wear About
The site also features a slick travel and style blog for each city, written by a local editorial team and updated weekly. And if the names on the Mumbai section seem familiar – nice job, eagle eye – yes, it is us Scouters who run it. We’re going to pull rank and get you a hefty discount on the site soon (watch out for the weekend guide), but in the mean time, we pick our five coolest products on the site. Safe travels!
